Hello,
I love Guerlain perfumes and perfumes in general, so I really enjoy reading your very nice blog !
Pascale (from Bordeaux, France)
This is an excellent site. I adore Habit Rouge and Vetiver - what a treasure trove of thoroughly knowledgeable information. Bravo Monsieur!

Hello again,
Since you seem to be an expert on Guerlain perfumes, I've got a few questions for you: I like "Chamade" eau de toilette but haven't got the chance to test the eau de parfum yet; what are the differences between them according to you? I'm talking about the actual formulations not the vintage. Are the reformulated EDT and the EDP still considered as great perfumes today? I hope you'll find time to answer me, that would be nice to have your opinion.
By the way, your collection of Guerlain perfumes is just amazing !
Thank you,
Pascale from Bordeaux.

Hi Pascale,
Thank you so much for your kind words about my Guerlain site and collection!
To me, the EdP smells like the EdT wound up - it seems to have more hedione, and feels sharper - but compared to the Parfum, it has a matter finish and a development less of a canyon.
I don't have too much experience with the new Chamade versions, but when I tested them about a year ago, I found the top to be somewhat "milkier", less bouncing and tense, and the drydown to feel slightly less deep and rich. It could be the lack of real sandalwood perhaps. Also, I found the otherwise extremely long evaporation curve of old Chamade to be somewhat shorter and less detailed. Still, they are great perfumes!
Bonjour monsieur, just wanted to tell you I've been drooling looking at your amazing collection. Great blog, with a lot of interesting things to read. I guess that if I ever have a Guerlain related question I can look u up.
Greetings from the Netherlands!

What a wonderful collection!
Greetings from Austria,

It's wonderful collection!!! With huge pleasure has read your blog and has looked at photos!! I am from Russia
i would like you to tell us how to spot a fake guerlain, please. it'a shame that some of us receive via online shopping guerlain products that are not original. What are the major details from the packaging, boxing method, bottle details as well as the projection and longevity of the fragrance itself i.e GUERLAIN HOMME.
Thank you

Hi there. My personal experience is that Guerlain is very rarely counterfeited. In my thorough research I have come across maybe just a single counterfeited Guerlain. There are no generally known visual signs to determine a counterfeit.
Kind regards,
Ulrik
Hi
I'm a 40 years guy, I tested Mitsouko and loved it, Which version should I buy? edt edp?
Thank you, great site!
Hello! Greetings all the way from Australia! I was lucky enough to accidently stumble upon your website and I am so,so happy that I did. I have been awake ALL night hungrily reading your glorious tribute to all things Guerlain. I believe this passion is truly well deserved as it is one of the greatest perfume houses ever. WELL DONE and with all my heart- THANK YOU!
Kindest regards -dsb

Personally, I would buy Mitsouko EdP. It's spicier and drier.
I love your site and have shared it with many friends. I do have a question for you. I have recently tried Terracota Voile d'Ete and I can purchase it cheaply. However, at my local Guerlain Boutique they have a 250 ml white bee of No. 25. Are they the same scent? Thanks, Rick B

Hi Rick, thanks for your very kind message. I really appreciate your support. Yes, No.25 is the same fragrance as Voile d'Ete. No.25 is a rare and beautiful presentation!
Mon cher Monsieur:
I have fallen in love with Mitsouko EDP - I agree with your prior comment to M. Veneciano. What other scent would you recommend to a woman who likes this fragrance, has no access to any vintage formulations, and is willing to try EDP of any Guerlain masterpiece?

There aren't too many other Guerlain chypres that have survived, but Vol de Nuit Parfum is a wonderful "sister". Problem is, nowadays' Vol de Nuit is less striking, less dry and less long-lasting. Another suggestion is L'Heure Bleue for the spicy part, and Vetiver pour Elle for the green aspect. In the good old days, Chant d'Arômes or Parure would be a suggestion too.
Dear Sir:
I read with interest, under your site's "Details" tab, the entry entitled "Follower or Nostalgist?" What is your opinion of the Eau de Parfum version of Insolence, as far as quality of composition? It doesn't have the typical drydown, but the scent seems like a "guilty pleasure" compared to a great scent like L'Heure Bleu. Does this scent presage the fall of the House of Guerlaine?

Thanks for your interest - it's very much appreciated! Well, perfumery and the market has changed a lot since L'Heure Bleue, but I think that Guerlain in general has kept up their high quality, historic style and creativity. Regarding Insolence EdP, I actually find that it's one of Guerlain most ravishing modern perfumes, a new classic to my nose. I'm not so guilty about how pleasurable I find it :-)
Thank you for your advice, which is the best I have encountered. I enjoy visiting your website; it's a work of art!

Wow, thank you very much for your warm words, I'm very flattered! And glad you like it :-)
Mon Cher Monsieur:
Thank you for the advice about L'Heure Bleu and Vol de Nuit for a woman in love with Mitsouko EDP. What is your favorite Guerlain EDP in current formulation? Is it worthwhile to purchase Vol de Nuit in EDT or L'Heure Bleu in EDP if, as some believe, the "heart" has been cut out of them in reformulation?
To Anonymous
I haven't tried the very latest bottles of L'Heure Bleue - but a few years ago, it was wonderful. Vol de Nuit EdT is really quite fleeting. I guess my preferred current EdP is Shalimar, but I like new Mitsouko too! Changed, but not bad.
Good afternoon, monsieur!
I'm really like your blog!
I want to ask you:
Mouchoir de Monsieur a version of the 1980s it contains civet or not? I want to order your sample with Mouchoir de Monsieur vintage. The modern version is quite different from vintage?
Only you can really tell the truth for me! Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!
Best regards,
M
To M
New Mouchoir de Monsieur is really quite good, it still has the "dirty" feel of civet. However, the vintage one was even more musky and animalic. Some people would prefer the new one which feels more crisp and clear.
Mon cher Monsieur:
What's your opinion of Habit Rouge Eau de Parfum as an everyday scent for a woman who needs to be discrete with fragrance at the office, or is the Eau de Toilette still a better fragrance? Is there any other Guerlain (other than Nahema) that has the complexity of Mitsouko? Thank you for your direction!
@Anonymous
Madame, Habit Rouge EdP is woodier that the EdT, but also warmer and creamier, so I think it could be an elegant, quite formal scent on a woman. To me, both L'Heure Bleue and Chamade have a very high complexity.
